Chris started his musical career in 1992 after forming Southampton band ‘The Bluescasters’. After a year playing local gigs …around the Southampton area, Chris joined The Bob Pearce Band in 1993. He remained with Bob until Bob’s “break from gigging” in 2004. During that time Chris recorded and played with Bob on all his UK and European dates.
He has played the major UK festivals and many European festivals in Belgium, Germany, Holland, Ireland and Switzerland. He had the privilege to back “Chicago Harp Legend” Billy Boy Arnold and “The Disciple of The Blues” Sonny Rhodes on their UK tours. He has also supported Magic Slim and The Teardrops, Koko Taylor and John Primer. Blues Etc… was born in 1996, when Chris started to front the rhythm section of The Bob Pearce Band doing gigs around the local area.
Since then, and until the present day, he has been the front man of Blues Etc… (now Chris Collins & Blues Etc…) on all their gigs, including tours to Switzerland and even way down South to The Falkland Islands!! He has recorded several albums with Blues Etc…, including “From East Oakland To West Cadnam” FPCD 001, “Too Much Too Late” FPCD 003 and “The Set” FPCD 010. Chris writes a lot of his own material, much of it played at his gigs. One of his songs, “Cheatin’ on the Man”, was recorded by “Zydeco King” C.J. Chenier on his Alligator Records release “The Big Squeeze”.
Chris resumed guitar duties with Bob after his break and continues to play in his band. He has played on all his latest albums, and is also the man behind Fuzzy Pig Records.
