The Thomas Tripp is a thriving great British pub set in the small town of Christchurch, Dorset. We pride ourselves on unpretentious food, quality beverages, and outstanding value.
By day, we operate as a traditional English pub with a spectacular menu by Chef Quentin Royles, featuring traditional pub favourites with a twist, sourced locally from the finest suppliers.
By night, The Thomas Tripp transforms into an electrifying live music venue, hosting touring bands, local talent, and party nights throughout the week.
As an independent freehouse, we are not tied to any brewing company. This means we have the freedom to offer a constantly changing selection of the finest cask ales, craft beers, wines and spirits from local, regional and international producers. Our independence is our strength.
The Thomas Tripp is a historic pub dating back to 1750, previously frequented by smugglers in the days when Christchurch was a hub for illicit trade along the Dorset coast.
The law finally caught up with smuggler, brigand and local hero Thomas Tripp in this very pub. He was arrested here in the early 17th century and taken to the Tower of London to be hanged.
Today, the spirit of Thomas Tripp lives on in our pub — a place of warmth, character and community where locals and visitors alike come together to enjoy great food, drink and entertainment.
